What better way to showcase the classic Christian Dior red lip than a “Look Good, Feel Better” event?!
Last week, The Beauty Team was called to a very exciting event for Dior with an even better activity that every woman out there would love! We set up the Dior table with so much Dior makeup that even a candy shop, shopping mall (or Martini bar) had a run for its money! We then had a group of women approach the table and individually each women would show us how she would put on her lipstick. If she motioned with the pen a precise and slow line she ‘loved life to the fullest, was careful, sometimes shy and she looked before she leaped’. If she made a ‘scaredy cat’ face while putting on her lipstick she had a ‘tendency to be frivolous but could often be found in business situations or shopping malls!’ These were cute little personality traits we would conclude just from the motion of a lipstick tube drawn on the lips! Then we matched our participants up with the best red lipstick for them, figured out some more personality traits based on their lipstick shape as they kissed a Dior napkin, had it placed neatly in a clear envelope as a keepsake and off they went with their Dior Lipstick – complimentary!
We had so much fun at this event – as did the ladies that took part in it. What woman doesn’t love a free red lipstick — not to mention courtesty of the lovely Chirstian Dior!! These were my favourite reds we matched up and gave away that day (#444 Dior Rouge -Red Muse and #853 Rouge Defendu) :
And here we are! (Me and Victoria on the far right!)
Working in the media as a Television Host, Joanne is constantly on the go. She needed a look that is classic, on trend and easy to achieve on her own.
Joanne has great blue eyes, loves to play them up and isn’t scared of a little makeup. First things first, to ensure her look would last from day to night, I primed her eyes with Urban Decay’s primer potion followed by cool tones of eyeshadow from Stila’s “In the Know” palette which coordinated perfectly with her outfits. I wanted to draw extra attention to the eyes and did so by lining them (inside and out) with a black waterproof liner by Dior.
To tie the look together I applied Nars multiple in Riviera, a true pink cream blush to her cheeks which gave her a youthful and luminous glow.
Lastly, to pair with her outgoing personality and girly style I applied a custom blend of a pink Revlon shade (color unknown as it came in a palette) followed by a Raspberry gloss, Penny Arcade by NARS.
With her gorgeous long hair and it only felt right to give Joanne some big loose waves. To achieve this look Evita sectioned the hair into four parts and wrapped it around a 2 inch curling iron. She sprayed the hair with a bit of Icon – DONE finishing spray and let it sit for about 10 minutes. After everything was set she ran a Large Paddle brush over the curls to make it loose and wavy. She then applied a dime size of styling paste to give the curls a bit of definition and added shine.
I had done Tia’s makeup years ago when I was working for Dior as a freelance artist so I was delighted to get the oportunity to work on her pretty face once again. As I became reacquainted with Tia’s gorgeous features I realized how outstanding her cheekbones were and couldn’t wait to get the perfect blush and bronzer on them to sculpt and define them further. I used a Glominerals blush in ‘Rosebud’ on Tia’s cheeks and it worked so well with the spring jacket she sported for one of the takes. The bronzer I used was The Balm’s ‘Bahama Mama’ which creates the most matte and natural looking contoured cheekbone affect.
For her base I used the ever-trusted Dior ‘Forever’ foundation – I love it for the way it glides on the skin and looks flawless and matte for photos.
I was sure to use Dior’s eyeshadow palette in ‘Sunset Cafe’ that really worked with Tia’s eyes and was also a colour that translated easily for an every day look while on the go (with it’s 5 colours and amazing warm tones) .
While Tia’s eyes have green in them, it only seemed right to use a lip colour like Nars ‘Niagara’ because it not only complimented her eyes but it was a colour she could wear to brighten her entire look if nothing else.
Tia’s hair was a little frizzy and unruly. Rebecca used a smoothing agent and a large round brush to smooth the hair from root to end. To amplify her existing body, she rolled and set the hair using duck bill clips and let it sit while she had her makeup applied (20mins). She then misted it with a medium hold hair spray, let that dry and took it down.
For a more natural everyday finish she took a wide tooth comb and gently separated the curls. To add a bit of shine and finish off the look Rebecca used a bit of Moroccan oil on the ends to add a bit of shine.
A lot of our private clients are busy working women so we thought this would be a great way to showcase our team’s talents in a photo shoot situation (as oppose to getting them ready for an event and then ‘off they go’). This also gives people an idea of what a little hair, makeup and a professional image consultant can do! Using our pro techniques and go-to products we helped to accentuate our model’s best features making them look polished and professional for the workplace and everyday life.
The latest addition to The Beauty Notes is our Before and After section. We will keep our readers up-to-date with our latest makeovers.
We had great feedback and so much fun on this shoot we are planning to make this a seasonal thing . Keep an eye out for details on how you can win a full Beauty Team makeover and be featured in our next shoot!
A huge thank you to our lovely models, Julia Park Photography, Amanda from Styled Silhouettes and of course our amazingly talented Beauty Team Hairstylists, Evita and Rebecca.
I must admit I was not on the bandwagon when BB cremes hit the shelves a few years ago. I preferred applying my tinted moisturizers, serums and primers individually and didn’t really get the hype.
It wasn’t until I was sent Diorskin Nude BB creme that my perception changed. Enhanced with mineralized floral water, a blend of antioxidants and SPF 10, this product promises to moisturize, correct and protect the skin from the outdoor elements.
I first applied this product with my Beauty Blender and it literally blurred all imperfections and gave me a radiant glow while not feeling like I had anything on my face. My skin looked flawless!
A little goes a long way with this product. Start with less and add more as needed. If you start with too much product it tends to take a long time to dry. The best way to apply it is like I did (with a Beauty Blender) or your fingertips (freshly washed of course) as I found when I used a foundation brush it looked a bit heavy.
A definite recommendation to any woman on the go.
The BB creme comes in 4 shades and is suitable for all skin tones. Available at your nearest department store or Sephora.
I always want my skin to look hydrated and vibrant, even if when in reality it’s dehydrated. When I realized that Glominerals had this product I got way too excited about the after-effects of this real gold mineral dust! With one swipe I felt my skin was nourished and hydrated. It looked luminous with just the right amount of highlights giving off an airbrushed effect.
You know those days when you walk by your reflection in a shop window and think “damn, I look good!?” Using Glominerals 24k gold will add a little bit of glam to your everyday look. Once applied your skin will look luminous and give off that red carpet glow.
24k Gold Dust
Here I am wearing 24k (as usual) on a night out!
I always apply 24k Gold dust using the Glominerals angle blush brush. You can also apply with a smaller powder or fluffy eyeshadow blending brush. Apply along cheekbones, brow bones and your collarbone. For a gorgeous all over glow, mix a bit of 24k into your moisturizer.
Available at The Beauty Team Boutique, 24k is enriched with Vitamins A, C, E, real 24k gold mineral and soothing green tea extract. The gorgeous gold glow will leave your skin feeling and looking like gold, Literally.
